顺手贴个faq,这个faq的产生也有我的功劳,嘿嘿 Migrating from DiscWizard Starter Edition (formerly Disk Manager?/sup>) 7.1x to LBA
Please read the following cautions carefully before proceeding with the instructions. Cautions: It is strongly recommended that you do not use the migrate feature of DiscWizard Starter Edition to convert existing partitions to LBA format. This procedure can be risky to your data and is not advised by either Seagate or Ontrack Technical Support departments. Seagate will not help you recover your data if it is deleted by using this procedure. You must Migrate from DiscWizard Starter Edition 7.1x to LBA BEFORE removing DiscWizard Starter Edition’s overlay! If you remove DiscWizard Starter Edition 7.1x without migrating first, you will lose your data! Always make a backup of your data before migrating a drive. The migration process involves copying all records on the drive and requires a defect free drive; therefore, a surface scan is performed before the drive is migrated to detect possible problems. The migration process is irreversible once it has begun, so if migration is interrupted by a failure, such as a loss of power, all data on the drive will be lost. Procedure: Backup all data stored on the drive to be migrated. Boot into the system BIOS and ensure the LBA option is enabled. Boot to a DOS diskette (Make sure the diskette is virus free.) Insert the DiscWizard Starter Edition diskette in the floppy drive. Type DM to start DiscWizard Starter Edition. When the main menu appears, select "Maintenance Menu". Select "Migrate Dynamic Drive". This process could take several hours. When the process completes, exit DiscWizard Starter Edition and reboot the system to a diskette. Make sure you can access the C: drive (or migrated drive, if it is not the C: drive). If you cannot access the migrated drive, stop here. You will not be able to remove DiscWizard Starter Edition’s overlay. If you can access the migrated drive, type DM to start DiscWizard Starter Edition and proceed with step 10. When the main menu appears, select "Maintenance Menu". Select "Uninstall DiscWizard Starter Edition" and follow the prompts to delete the DiscWizard Starter Edition overlay. Exit the DiscWizard Starter Edition program. Reboot the system to the hard drive. Make sure the DiscWizard Starter Edition logo does not load during the boot process. Make sure you can access and run all your installed software.
